Since 1856 the Academy of Science in St. Louis has been a leader in the advancement and integration of science and technology into contemporary society. From its rich history as a science museum to the realization of a longstanding goal by taking the lead in the development of a “well-equipped and suitable science center” for St. Louis, the Academy has always been able to focus its resources for maximum return. Today, Academy resources are focused on expanded scientific outreach, education, resource sharing, and the recognition of scientific accomplishment.

American Rivers is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to protecting and restoring rivers nationwide. Founded over 25 years ago in a dusty Denver office, today we have offices in Washington, DC and across the country.

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is a not-for-profit research institute with a global vision to improve the human condition. Research at the Danforth Center will enhance the nutritional content of plants to improve human health, increase agricultural production to create a sustainable food supply, and provide the scientific ideas and technologies that will contribute to the economic growth of the St. Louis region and of the State of Missouri.

The St. Louis Science Center serves as a bridge between scientist and layperson, encouraging an understanding of ecology and the environment, humanity, technology and the space sciences and how each interrelates. By fostering an active interest in science and mathematics, the Science Center prepares people to make decisions that may shape the future and meet society’s needs for scientific literacy.

The X PRIZE is a $10,000,000 prize to jumpstart the space tourism industry through competition between the most talented entrepreneurs and rocket experts in the world.

The St. Louis Zoo is a state-of-the-art biopark and home to more than 3,000 animals and features Jungle of the Apes and Big Cat Country. Additional attractions include the Emerson Electric Children’s Zoo, The Living World educational center, sea lion shows and bird house.

Archaeological Institute of America, St. Louis Society holds free monthly lectures that are open to the public. These lectures are given by professional Archaeologists who are experts in their fields and cover a wide range of topics from new excavation data to analysis of sculpture and painting.
